Learning Edge Academic Program for International Students
iLeap is the international counterpart of LEAP. With three prides, iLEAP is designed exclusively for international students. iLEAP introduces intermediate to advanced nonnative speakers of English to American academic oral communication and written composition.
iLEAP students take two courses together in groups of 18 that are reserved exclusively for first-year international students. These courses are Effective Speech (CAS 100) and Composition for American Academic Communication (ESL 015). iLEAP students live together with other iLEAP and LEAP students in the same dormitory area, and have an upper class student mentor to guide them through their first semester. The Office of Global Programs provides iLEAP student mentors who are well-versed in working with international students as they gradually get accustomed to the Penn State community as well as the American culture.
